We have been running Masterclasses on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset for four years now, and every year it gets better. The Portland Lighthouse, and the whole of Portland Bill, is magnificent in any light. Catching Corfe Castle at dawn is always a bucket shot moment. At Chapman's Cove and Chesil Beach, we can take photos and video in these well known locations impossible to capture with a traditional camera. In short, this is a fabulous trip for every keen drone photographer and videographer.

We are excited to be taking our Drone Photography and Videography Masterclass to the Jurassic Coast, for a unique drone holiday experience. Led by Alan Copson, Professional Stock Photographer for more than twenty years, and one of the UKs most-widely published landscape and travel photographers. And Stephen Knell, COO of PhantomFlightSchool.
Each day, our goal is to support your drone flying, photography, and videography, in order to ensure that whatever your experience and expertise when you arrive on the Masterclass, every day will be fun, exciting, and full of learning opportunities.
The program schedule is designed to be flexible. The initial briefing session will include a jumpstart to taking better images, but assuming the weather is good, the plan is to be out flying. We will be based in Weymouth, on the coast close to Portland Bill and the highly drone-photogenic Portland Lighthouse. From here we have ready access to enough amazing flying sites to keep us busy for the entire time, but if the weather is unkind we will return to base where we can have more detailed tutorial sessions, review images taken and look at professional video and image editing image software.
We will have our £6,000 Matrice drone with us, which is entirely waterproof. Clients will be welcome to fly and film using this during this Masterclass. Clients are also encouraged to bring conventional cameras since there will be plenty of opportunity for traditional photography. Most of the same principles apply whether the camera in the air or on the ground and being good with a normal camera is a huge benefit when it comes to using a drone.
Our base for this Master class is the top rated AirBnB property in Weymouth. A stone’s throw from the sea, this townhouse features six ensuite bedrooms, a huge kitchen-dining space, and ample chill-out areas. All but two of our preferred Flying Locations are less than 30 minutes drive from here.
We know all of the best restaurants in Weymouth, including Al Molo, a splendid Italian restaurant in a magnificent Art Deco building right on the beach, and Mona’s, a really good Thai restaurant tucked away next to the picturesque harbour. We will take the temperature of the group when it comes to dinner decisions. Some nights we will visit a restaurant, others we will order-in to eat together. You have the option to do your own thing if you prefer. Dinners are not included in the cost of the Masterclass.
