The Mavic Pro Alpine White Combo
Everything the original is but now with a REALLY cool new colour scheme and THREE batteries! The Mavic Pro goes from strength to strength… Now in stock!
With the Mavic Pro DJI have done it again. They have redefined what a drone can be, what a drone should be.
Crucially, it is small enough to fit in your pocket. At the same time, the design and construction quality are everything we expect from the company that invented the Phantom and the Inspire. Set-up takes seconds. And once it is in the air, the Mavic Pro is incredibly stable in flight. Outside, it handles the wind just fine. Indoors flying is at last a real option, as the Vision Positioning System keeps the Mavic Pro fixed in one place like no other drone has been capable of.
Tripod mode means that with a bit of practice, you can fly safely and accurately indoors provided there is sufficient light. Selfie mode means you can take a picture of yourself just by waving at the Mavic. DJI have also pushed the bounds of the collision avoidance system, which now works at speeds of up to 22mph, compared with 15mph for the Phantom 4. Battery life is comparable to the Phantom 4, at 27 minutes. (30 minutes for the Platinum!) And range is a CAA / UK regulation-busting 7kms.
So is that the end for every other drone out there? Not quite. With any piece of camera equipment, you are always looking for the best combination of image quality and convenience, at the best price. In price terms, the DJI Mavic Pro is a bit less than DJI Phantom 4 Advanced. On convenience, the Mavic Pro wins hands down. But on image quality and in some other areas, the Phantom 4 Advanced has the edge.
And of course, if convenience can go hang because all you are interested in is image quality, then the Inspire 2, with its wide choice of superb cameras of comparable quality to a high-end DSLR camera is the drone for you!
Mavic Pro FAQs
Q: Will the Mavic work with my iPad?
A: The DJI GO 4 app on the iPad will indeed work with the Mavic – however, you may need to purchase an alternative device holder as the Mavic’s remote control is not big enough to hold any iPad bigger than the mini 4.
Q: much does the drone weigh?
A: With the gimbal cover attached, the Mavic weighs 743g. This is reduced to 734g when the gimbal cover is removed.
Q: Can the remote control be used to control the camera as opposed to a mobile device?
A: Yes – the Mavic’s camera is fully controllable via the remote control, in addition to the mobile device you use.
Q: What is the range on the remote control?
A: Thanks to new OcuSync technology, the DJI Mavic Pro has a range of up to 4.3 miles.
Q: Can I change the aperture on the camera?
A: No, this quadcopter has a fixed aperture camera, although ND filters are readily available.
Q: Does the camera have manual focus?
A: Yes – the camera on the DJI Mavic Pro has both manual and auto focus modes.
Q: With the DJI Mavic being so light – can it be flown in the wind?
A: The DJI Mavic Pro is safe to fly in wind speed up to 10 m/s or 22 mph.
Q: What is the range when using just WiFi as a transmission system?

A: No, there is no HDMI port on the Mavic Pro controller.
Q: Can I use my Mavic Pro without my remote controller?
A: Yes, you can simply use your Android or iOS device to control the Mavic Pro instead of the bundled remote controller. You’ll have virtual joysticks within the DJI GO 4 app.
Q: Do I need to buy any extra cables to fly the drone?
A: Not necessarily. The Mavic includes both a Micro USB RC cable and a Lightning RC cable but you will need a short Lightning cable to attach an iPad mini.
Q: Can I transport my Mavic with Propellers still attached?
A: Yes – simply fold the Mavic as normal, there’s no need to remove the props while in transit.
Q: What sizes of mobile device will fit on the Remote Control?
A: The device holder on the remote control will accept devices between 6.5 and 8.5mm thick and up to 160mm long. Always remember to remove your phone case if your device won’t fit first time.
Q: What resolution is the OcuSync downlink?
A: Video can be streamed back to your mobile device at 1080p or 720p depending on how you’re operating the drone.
Q: Is the Mavic Pro suitable for commercial use?
A: The Mavic can produce some fantastic imagery, and provided you have the relevant CAA PfCO permission here in the UK, you’ll be able to fly the Mavic professionally. However, for those looking to use their drone as a business asset, the better cameras on the P4Pro or Inspire 2 might be more suitable.
Q: Is the Mavic a suitable first drone?
A: Definitely. In fact, we’d suggest it’s probably one of the most user-friendly DJI drones on the market, letting you fly in a wide range of situations. The ‘Beginner’ mode within the DJI GO 4 app will also help you to understand the basics and give you more confidence before exploring other flight modes. If you’re new to drones or quadcopters in general, we definitely recommend a 2 hour introductory lesson with us before making your purchase. The £120 cost of your first hour is refundable against any subsequent purchase over £750 within 30 days.
