When we ask someone at the beginning of a lesson “how much drone flying have you done” we are always delighted when the answer is “none”. Perfect - you cannot have got into any bad habits. In this workshop we will give you our Unique 4 : 3 : 3 Blueprint for building good drone flying habits, that will improve your drone flying for years to come.
We’ll make sure you are completely familiar with your drone, your transmitter, and the DJI Go 4 or DJI Fly (depending on your drone) App.
We’ll explain in clear, common-sense language, what the Drone Regulations mean in terms of where you can fly and what you can film, with advice on how the rules apply to the specific type and weight of drone that you fly.

Some people prefer to have the full attention of an expert for a couple of hours. In which case our One to One introduction to drone flying, on Zoom, or In Person, will be right for you. Others learn better in a group, where they can watch other people getting the hang of things, ask more informal questions, and enjoy the banter of being in a small group of like minded drone enthusiasts. If you fall in the latter category, this Introduction to Drone Flying is for you.
Before the Workshop, we’ll send you comprehensive details about how to apply and obtain your Operator ID and Flyer ID.
During the lesson we’ll show you:
- The path to conscious competence
- The pitfalls to avoid, including not trying to fly the way you drive
- Around your drone, explaining where the Micro SD card should be inserted, and how to attach and detach the propellers.
- The same with the transmitter, and the DJI Go 4 app / DJI Fly app (depending which drone model you have).
- Then, using our unique 4 : 3 : 3 methodology, we’ll explain in detail the good habits to get into when you are flying, and the bad habits to avoid. So that every time you fly, you practice with a purpose, and become a better drone pilot
- Finally, we’ll cut through the complexity of the new drone regulations, to provide you with clear information about where you can fly, and where you can’t, and what you can film, and what you can’t, with advice tailored to your specific type and weight of drone
After your lesson, we’ll send you a copy of the slideshow we use during the lesson to guide you through how to fly safely and legally, as well as comprehensive notes about what to do when you are out with your drone. In order to build on what we have taught you by practising with a purpose.
